The Land of Al-Madinah
Status and slavery
Slavery is a common feature of the land of Al-Madinah. The people of the cities will enslave other humans and races. Slaves are viewed as property, but are often treated well.
Slave owners are required to feed and clothe their slaves. They are responsible for covering a slaves medical costs if needed. Slaves are expected to follow the household gods, but are allowed to also worship other gods.
Some slave owners will punish their slaves severely and occasionally even kill them. This is not viewed as murder, but is frowned upon socially. People are expected to respect slaves of other families and hurting or endangering the slaves of another is viewed in a similar manner to property damage…but slaves are expensive and the ire is suitably great.
